Spreading in sandy areas of the beach. Its purple thistle-like blossoms crowd out native plants, and releases toxins that poison the soil. Plants pull out quite easily but do not delay because they will be going to seed very soon. Pulled plants can be burned at high temperatures or bagged or buried deep in the ground. Mowing or herbicides can also be an effective treatment. Wear gardening gloves and just go to it.  Continue reading →
